The PSAT test is a practice test provided by the College Board to give students valuable feedback on their testing ability and knowledge to prepare them for their eventual taking of the ACT and SAT exams which are required for entrance into college and scholarship programs. The PSAT allows students to take a proctored exam in a secure testing environment and receive knowledge about their testing abilities and what they need to improve on for future testing.
All 9th, 10th, and 11th graders are invited to take the PSAT exam. 11th graders who score well will be entered into the National Merit Finalist Scholarship competition and be eligible to receive $300 million in available scholarships.
The available testing date for Brighton High students is October 8th at 7 AM. There are two testing locations. The AUX Gym will be the main location. The Twin Peaks room will be reserved for overflow students once the AUX Gym has been filled. These locations will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Payment must be received by September 30th in the Main Office. Students who need financial assistance should see Maria Bytendorp in the Main Office.
The test will be held in the AUX Gym or Twin Peaks room, and all students should report no later than 7:15 for check-in and registration.
The test will be completely digital this year, requiring the use of a Brighton High School Chromebook and the BlueBook app. The digital check-up on device compatibility will be on October 2nd in the library.
Students will be provided a checklist of how to prepare for the exam upon payment. This checklist will include how to access practice tests and study aids.
