October 16-18, 2023, Canyons School District will be participating in our annual Digital Citizenship Week. Included below is an overview of the activities we will be sharing and discussing in our school so that you may extend these conversations with your children at home. From cyberbullying and photo sharing to digital footprints and online safety, we want to help students and families address important topics and have meaningful conversations about making great choices in their digital lives.
“Using Tech for Good”
Students will reflect on how who they follow and interact with in digital spaces impacts their life.
“Risk Check for New Tech”
Students will consider what privacy risks new technologies present, and how they can decide if they’re worth it.
“Artificial Intelligence: Benefits and Challenges”
Students will learn how artificial intelligence works, and consider the benefits and challenges that accompany this technology.
“My Digital Life is Like…”
Students will use the Common Sense Media’s Digital Habits Checkup tool to reflect on the positive and negative impacts of digital media in their life.
“Is the Internet Making You Meaner?”
Students will explore the types of online disinhibition and the impacts of disinhibition online.
“Civil Discourse Online”
Students will learn what civil discourse is and identify why it can be challenging on the internet.
