Dear Friends of Brighton Bands,
The Brighton Symphonic Band has been working incredibly hard the past few months to prepare for our upcoming conference performance! So, we wanted to take a moment and formally invite you to the Brighton Symphonic Band’s UMEA Send Off Concert & UMEA Conference Performances! We recognize that not everyone will be able to make the trip down to St. George, so we are hosting a Send-Off Concert. Please see the details below for our upcoming performances!
WHAT IS UMEA? WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL?
The Utah Music Educators Association hosts its annual conference the first weekend of February every year for music teachers in the state of Utah. Every year, there are only two band ensembles selected to perform at the conference. Ensembles are selected by blind audition by a panel of experts. This year, Brighton Symphonic Band was one of the two selected and the only high school level ensemble selected to perform, the other ensemble being a collegiate level ensemble. To prepare for this program is also a huge undertaking. The students and directors are expected to prepare 40 mins worth of music and will perform it for the music educators in the state. It is safe to say that the ensemble and its members will forever be able to take the lessons learned in preparing for a performance like this.
