Please bring: Wear proper athletic attire and bring a personal glove, bat, and helmet. If we’re inside, spikes won’t be allowed, tennis shoes will need to be worn.
Team selection criteria: It is extremely difficult to make our freshmen/sophomore, JV, or varsity teams. We are likely to choose 30-40 for our 3 teams for the upcoming season. Selecting teams is difficult for any coaching staff; please keep in mind that we are trying to build teams for this year and continuity in the next 2-4 years. The following list, in no particular order, details specific qualities that influence the decisions of the coaching staff during tryouts:
- Fundamental baseball skills
- Overall athletic ability (balance, coordination, speed, quickness, strength, etc)
- Projected position role
- Current performance and our opinion of future potential
- Eagerness to follow instruction and ability to learn new skills and concepts
- Commitment to team and individual improvement
- Must attend all tryout sessions
- GPA and attendance
- Overall attitude: respect for others and others’ property
Player checklist: Please read this list very carefully. Not completing the following items will prevent you from being allowed to participate. No exceptions. Please plan ahead, be informed, and be prepared.
- Must be academically eligible (Must have at least a 2.0 GPA for the previous trimester)

- Must do this, even if playing another sport at Brighton. Select “baseball.”

A mandatory parent meeting will be held the first week after tryouts conclude for those who make the team. This meeting will cover expectations, fees, fundraisers, etc. Time and date TBD. We look forward to building our program and know that you and your athlete are a huge part of the process.
