About Coach Gygi
Soccer and Cottonwood Heights have been at the center of John Gygi’s life for nearly fifty years. A Brighton alum and lifelong member of the local soccer community, John began playing on the Butler Fields and was part of the Brighton High soccer club before it became a varsity sport.
He holds a U.S. Soccer Federation National “B” License, a National Youth License, and has coached with Sparta United, Blue Knights SC, Cottonwood FC, and Utah’s Olympic Development Program. John also served on the Utah Youth Soccer Association Board of Directors for over a decade, helping guide statewide growth and organizational improvement.
John and his wife, Tracy, have lived in Cottonwood Heights for nearly 40 years. All four of their children graduated from Brighton, including their oldest son who won state soccer titles with the Bengals in 2008 and 2009.
We’re thrilled to have Coach Gygi leading our program and continuing Brighton’s proud soccer tradition!
