About Coach Opheikens
A Utah native and Hillcrest High School graduate, Chris Opheikens, has spent 17 years developing skilled athletes, strong leaders, and confident young people. His coaching career spans youth clubs, high school programs, and the collegiate level, where he has built programs grounded in trust, confidence, and strong fundamentals. Chris and his wife raised four children, with all three of their daughter’s playing softball through the college level—an experience that deepened his passion for the game and his commitment to supporting young athletes and their families.
Chris most recently served as an Assistant Softball Coach at Columbia College in South Carolina. There, he led defensive and pitching strategy, supported offensive development, and provided both team and small-group instruction. He played a major role in recruiting talented athletes from across the country and led the development team, giving players additional opportunities to compete and grow.
Before coaching at the collegiate level, Chris served as Head Coach at Corner Canyon High School and spent many years leading competitive club softball programs. Known for his patience, positivity, and steady leadership, he emphasizes work ethics, accountability, and team-first values while fostering a supportive, family-oriented environment that helps athletes succeed on and off the field.
