Brighton High School Athletics is excited to announce Jeff Baird as the new Head Boys Basketball Coach.
Coach Jeff Baird has coached high school basketball for 33 years. He coached at Judge Memorial from 1993-2016, at various times coaching the sophomore, JV, and freshman teams while also assisting with the varsity under legendary Utah high school coach Jim Yerkovich, and later his successor, Dan Del Porto.
In 2016, he came to Brighton and joined Garrett Wilson's staff as a varsity assistant. From 2018-2021, he served as the head coach at Summit Academy. Some highlights from his tenure at Summit include the 3A Bears beating six 5A and 6A teams, defeating six region champions, and beating #2-ranked Judge Memorial 2020 and #1-ranked Grantsville in 2021.
He rejoined Brighton's staff for the 2021-2022 season with Coach Wilson. For the past four seasons, he has served as the freshman coach and varsity assistant at Highland High School, assisting Chris Jones.
He is beyond thrilled to be back coaching the Bengals and is very grateful for the support of the community.
He and his wife, Laura (herself a Brighton alum, and an elementary teacher in Canyons District), have three children, John, Jake, and Sarah, and live in Sandy.
